Breakin'

An app to remind you to take a break

Breakin'

Sometimes, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day tasks and forget to take a break. This is especially true when you’re working on something important or in a rush.

This results in a lot of stress and anxiety, which can lead to fatigue and a lack of productivity—or even physical issues like sore eyes, headaches, and back pain.

So, it’s important that we take breaks from our screens from time to time. And this is where this little but powerful app called Breakin’ comes in handy.

The way this works is you can configure the app to remind you to take a break on a specified interval. You can also set for how long you want to take a break.

So, for instance, if you set the app to remind you to take a break every 15 minutes, and you set the break to be 30 minutes, then the app will remind you to take a break every 15 minutes and for the entire 30 minutes, the screen will be overlayed with a message of your choice.

Here’s what that looks like.

As you can tell, the break will last long for the given time or you can also end it manually.

In the app preferences, you can configure the keyboard shortcuts for things like triggering a break or to pause it when you don’t want to wait for the break to be invoked automatically.

You can also set if the app should trigger a break on video calls or not or you can skip the break using the escape key before it’s initiated.

In my opinion, the app is pretty well-made and works like a charm. Of course, it’s free and minimal which is cherry on top!
