If you’re like me who wants everything in your life to be as precise as possible including their UIs or you’re someone who suffers from OCD (in a good way) and wants to get everything pixel-perfect, this tool (or tools) that I’ve come across recently can be a game changer.
Red Lines Tools is a free app that encompasses a collection of tools that let you add lines, grid, layout, image overlays, zoom tools, and measure tools on top of your windows. This makes it easier to gauge your UI and make sure it’s aligned as you want it to be.
Here’s a quick demo of the tool.
As you can tell, I’m using the horizontal and vertical lines on the top of my blog’s layout to check if everything is aligned correctly. I can also use the grid tool to check if my grid is evenly spaced and if the gaps are the same size as the grid.
One more use case for this app is when you want to illustrate your UI and send it to someone else, this tool can help you do that as well.
All the tools have increased accuracy for retina screens and can be invoked using respective keyboard shortcuts.
